What to expect at City Light Church During COVID-19:
Are you currently meeting in person or online on Sunday mornings?
We are doing both! If you are comfortable gathering with us in person, we have resumed in-person gatherings. To see what those look like, check out the question below this one. However, if you are in the high risk category, or if you simply aren’t comfortable gathering with us in person, we are streaming all of our services online. You can watch our live stream at 10:30 AM on Facebook (www.facebook.com/CityLightNOVA) or you can stream us live at www.CityLightLive.com. Regardless of how you join us, we’d love to gather with you!
What does your in person gathering look like in response to COVID-19?
We are incredibly excited to be able to meet together in person! We also understand that people have different (and often very strong) opinions about the best course of action during COVID. Our hope is that during this time we would all extend grace, humility, and love towards those who have differing opinions. As the leadership of City Light Church, we sought to make our decisions not out of fear but rather a desire for us to love our neighbor as ourselves. That being said, we are doing our best to adhere to CDC recommendations and to make City Light Church a place where as many people as possible feel comfortable gathering with us. Below are the steps we have taken as we gather during this time:
We are sanitizing all touch points, restrooms, and surfaces both before and after all worship gatherings.
During our Worship Gathering, we are social distancing family units at least 6 feet apart.
Based upon the governor’s recommendation (and the request of the owners we rent from) we are asking people to wear a mask while they are inside the building. Obviously, if you have a medical condition that would preclude you from doing so then you would not need to wear one.
We have masks available, as well as hand sanitizer, for everyone to use if they so desire.
We have shortened our services to roughly 50 minutes in length to accommodate people who have children with them in our gathering.
Is there something for my children during the gathering?
At this point in time, we are not providing our kids programs (Little City and City Kids) due to our inability to social distance in those environments. We are currently exploring ways to re-open our programs that adhere to CDC recommendations, but at this time we are not offering our children’s programs during our Sunday morning gatherings.
While challenging, we also believe this is an incredible opportunity for our families to worship together. We know that it might be more stressful for you to have your children with you in the service, but never underestimate the impact you can have on your child simply by allowing them to see you worshipping Jesus and sitting under the teaching of His word.
Obviously, during this time, our gatherings might be more lively with the kiddos in with us and know that at City Light Church we embrace all the noise, life, and vibrancy that kids will bring to our gatherings. Also, in case it would be helpful, we do have a parent’s room set up where you can see and hear our service if you need space for your child to let off some steam or if you’re a new mom and need a place to feed your child in a more private setting.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code at City Light, so feel free to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. You’ll find people in everything from jeans and t-shirts to dresses and suits.
